Ted Prappas is a former driver in the CART Championship Car series, racing in the 1991-1992 seasons. He made 26 career starts, including the 1992 Indianapolis 500. He finished in the top ten 4 times with a career best finish of 6th in the 1991 Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Ted Prappas was born in Santa Monica, California. He started racing in a Formula Super Vee that was bought for him by screen legend James Stewart. Ted's mother worked for an agent in the 1960s who managed clients that included Jimmy Stewart, Marlon Brando and Julie Andrews. He developed a brain tumor and passed away seven months later. In the meantime, Mrs Prappas took over the business and Mr. Stewart decided to stay with her.

In 1986 he won the West Coast Formula Atlantic Championship taking three wins along the way.

He then joined the American Racing Series for 1987, taking six top five finishes in his first year and winning in Detroit in 1988. In 1989 he finished runner-up for the title.

He joined the CART Championship Car series in the 1991 and in his two seasons he made 26 career starts, including the 1992 Indianapolis 500. He finished in the top ten 4 times and his best career finish was in 6th position at the 1991 Grand Prix of Long Beach. He finished the 1991 season as runner-up to Jeff Andretti for Rookie of the Year.

Ted, who hasn't raced since he left CART in 1992, is still involved in the sport, mainly as a racing instructor.
