French racing driver and owner of Tech1 racing. Competed in French and European F3
Simon Abadie was born in Lourdes, France. He started racing BMX at the age of 4 and went on to become very good in French karting, twice wining the prestigious Trophée Laborde, and getting good results in the European and World Championships.
He spent three years in Formula Renault and started his own team, helped by his sister, Sarah, early in 2000 in Toulouse called Tech1 Racing, with the help of young engineer Jean-François 'Jeff' Levere. That year he finished 2nd in the Formula Renault 2000 series.
He moved up to French Formula Three in 2001 with the Graff and with Saulnier in 2002. That year he finished 4th in the French Championship with a series of podium finishes but no wins.
In 2003 he competed in the Formula 3 Euroseries once again with Saulnier. In a dissapointing year he finished 14th in the standings.
He drove for Graff again in the 2004 World Series Light finishing third overall on 121 points with three wins and 7 podium finishes.
Tech 1 has been a loyal supporter of Renault Sport championships. Initially involved in the French Formula Renault championship they switched to the Eurocup Megane Trophy with immediate success in 2005, with Simon winning at Monza and Matthieu Lahaye finished as runner-up in the Junior championship.
Tech 1 continued to field three cars in the 2006 Megane Trophy but its focus shifted to the World Series by Renault with Belgian driver Jerome d'Ambrosio.
He has continued to race in the Formula 3 Euroseries with the LD Autosport Dallara-Mugen
