Jo Siffert and Derek Bell lead a Porsche 1-2 finish in the Buenos Aires 1000 KM race for the Championship of Makes. Ferrari 312P made its race debut. A Leader in the race, Ignazio Giunti, who was a tremendously promising young Italian who made his name driving saloon and sports cars for Alfa Romeo before being recruited into the Ferrari works team at the start of 1970, crashed and was killed.
