Robert Synge
Robert Synge began racing Formula Fords in 1979 whilst working as a sales manager at Image Race Cars, Goodwood. In 1982 he set up his own team - Madgwick Motorsport. The team enjoyed much success including: 1983 Esso FF1600 Champions 1984 British FF2000 Champions 1986 British F3 Champions and Macau GP winner. He then took the team into F3000 in 1987 enjoying success at an International level - winning the International Trophy F3000 race at Silverstone in 1989. Then in 1990 the majority shareholding was sold to Nigel Mansell - the team becoming Mansell Madgwick Motorsport. This partnership won the British F3000 Championship for four consecutive seasons from 1990 - 1994. Mr Synge sold his remaining interest in the team at the end of 1996. In 1997 he worked as a freelance consultant to the Reynard Motor Sport Group. He was then recruited to form an F1 test team at Tyrell on behalf of British American Racing. In 1999 he was promoted to ' Race and Test Team Manager' for British American Racing. He has now left the team and is pusuing other motor sport intersets.
