Bob Garretson, Bobby Rahal and Brian Redman teamed in a Porsche 935 to win the Daytona 24 Hours Sports Car race on the 3.84 mile Daytona International Speedway. The winners covered 708 laps in the 24 hours, averaging 113.153 mph in finishing 13 laps ahead of the Bob Akin/Derek Bell/Craig Siebert 935. The race was the opening round of the 1981 World Championship for Makes and marked the 16th and final time Daytona was part of the international series.
