French racing driver who had a testing contract for BAR for four years but never got to race in F1. Raced in Indy cars in 2003 but was dropped after six races.
Patrick Lemarié was born in Paris, France. He started racing in Formula Ford in 1989 finishing seconfin the French Championships with three wins that year. Staying in Formula Ford he finished third in 1990 with two wins. In 1991 he won the prestigious Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and finished second in the Championship with three wins.
1992 saw Patrick make the step up to French Formula Three before making the trip across the Atlantic to resue a career in Champ Cars. In 1993 he raced in six rounds of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship, finishing second at Laguna Seca. Just two races followed in 1993 and in 1994 he entered F3000 with Pacific.
After another year in F3000 with Ravarotto and DC Cook he picked up a testing contract for British American Racing
He then spent four years in that role but was never considered for a race seat due to his lack of experience. His manager, Craig Pollock, hired him to drive for the new PK Racing Champ Car team in 2003. He scored two tenth-place finishes the first two events but was replaced after six races for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca ace Bryan Herta. He has also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, American Le Mans series, Indy Lights, Toyota Atlantic and Formula 3000.
