Eric Martin
Martin was from Marion, Virginia. He was a driver in ARCA who drove for his stepfather Wayne Hixson.

He made forty starts between 2001 and 2002 with a best finish of 14th at the Springfield dirt one-mile oval in 2002 and was ranked 20th.

He was killed during practice for the last race of the season, the EasyCare 150, at the Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, in a crash with a car driven by Deborah Renshaw.

He spun his Chevrolet spun exiting Turn 4 and went into the outer wall backwards, coming to rest across the track. He radioed his pit to tell them that he was OK but some eight seconds later, he was hit by Deborah Renshaw at an estimated 160 mph. The car was virtually destroyed and Martin was killed instantly from massive internal injuries.

Renshaw was taken to a hospital in Charlotte but sustained only minor injuries.

Martin was 33 years old.
