Jamie Davies came to prominence in 1994 when he won the coveted BRDC McLaren Autosport "Young Driver of the Year" Award. Jamie started racing in 1991 and became a front-runner in British Formula Three in 1995 and 1996, beating the likes of Juan Pablo Montoya on occasions, and he had four very strong seasons in Formula 3000 in 1997, '98, '99 and '00. 1997 saw Jamie progress to the International Formula 3000 arena, firstly with the DAMS team with whom he achieved one win and several podium finishes. His prowess also brought about his debut in 1998 in international sportscars, driving a Panoz GTR-1. His pairing with Eric Bernard resulted in an excellent 4th place finish at Sebring and, later in the year, with David Brabham and Andy Wallace, a 7th place at the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans on his first visit to the Sarthe. Davies third season in F3000 was with the new European Aviation team. 1999 promised much but proved to be frustrating with a lack of results which did not accurately reflect his racing efforts. A 6th place at the Nurburgring was the highlight of the year. The following two years were character-building due to a lack of a full time drive, but Jamie proved his worth by stepping in for the injured Mario Haberfeld at Fortec and finishing 2nd at the testing Monaco street circuit and scoring the teams only points of the year in only 3 races. He also renewed his relationship with Panoz and drove for them in the 2001 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2002 Davies signed up to the new Veloqx Motorsport outfit and narrowly won the N-GT Class of the British GT Championship in a Ferrari 360 Modena. He contested the FIA GT Championship for Veloqx in 2003 in Ferrari 360s and the big long-distance classics in a GTS-Class Veloqx Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranello, winning this highly competitive category at Le Mans both in the 24-Hours and in the 1,000kms race at the season's end. Veloqx did a deal to run two of the best racing prototypes ever built, the Audi R8 for Audi UK this year. The Team has triumphed in all four of the LMES races and Davies and Herbert, driving on that occasion with Guy Smith, finished a spectacularly close second to the Japanese Team Goh Audi in the 24-Hours itself. Significantly Jamie Davies set the fastest race lap at Le Mans 24 .
