Holder of the land speed record at 633.468 mph then managed the Thrust SSC project which raised the record to 763.035 mph or mach 1.02.

Holder of the land speed record, and was the project director of the ThrustSSC, which currently holds the land speed record which was set at Black Rock Desert. The car travelled at 633.468 mph. He was then project manager for the Thrust SSC , world supersonic land speed record in which Andy Green broke the record at 763.035 mph or mach 1.02.
