South Africa Grand Prix, Kyalami. Won by Mario Andretti in a Ferrari

Mario Andretti drove his Ferrari past Denny Hulme with 4 laps left and went on to score the first F1 win of his career in the South African GP. Hulme had taken the lead from Clay Regazzoni on lap 17 and built a commanding lead before a vibration forced him to ease the pace. It appeared that Hulme would hold off the flying Andretti until a bolt fell from the radius arm of Hulme's McLaren and Andretti zipped by for the win. Jackie Stewart finished 20 seconds behind Andretti in second as Hulme fell to 6th.
