Sean Walker

After a promising start, winning the Dunlop "Star of Tomorrow" Championship in 1975, Seans career didn't really go anywhere. A highly talented driver, Walker is an example of how ability alone is not enough to get the top in motor sport.

Sean Walker is the son of Ian Walker, a contemporary of Colin Chapman and a sixties privateer who ran Team Lotus, before they started to do it themselves. Sean started racing in karts. In 1973 he won the British Junior Karting Championship and finished 4th in the Karting World Championship.

He graduated to Formula Ford in 1975 and the following year won the Formula Ford 1600 Dunlop "Star of Tomorrow" Championship.

In 1978 he came 5th in Championship Formula Ford 1600 Championship.

He moved to the Formula Talbot series and in 1982 finished 2nd in the Championship.

The following year he tried FF2000 finishing 7th in the Championship.
 
In 1984 he entered Sports 2000 finishing up 2nd in Championship and going one better the following year by taking the title.

In 1986 he went back to single seaters to tackle the B Class of the British Formula 3 Championship finishing a fine 2nd.

By 1988 he was back in sports cars finishing 2nd in the British Sportscar Championship. For 1989 he entered the competetive world of the British Touring Car Championship. He drove a Ford Sierra RS500 for two years before switchingt o a BMW M3 in 1992.

Since then he had occupoed himself racing in historic series driving a range of machinery from F1 cars to a Lotus Elan. He also races in sports cars.

Sean was Classic Team Lotus' first driver in the early nineties when he was a frequent winner in TGP.
