Though not that well know outside of his native Italy Gino Munaron was never the less a very professional driver who raced a variety of sports and touring cars between 1955 to 1965. He aslo raced a number of single seaters, competing in 4 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix in 1960.
Apart from privately entered cars he also had works drives for Ferrari, Maserati and Osca during the fifties. He took a fine win at Hyeres in 1955 in a Ferrari, a third at Pescara and fourth at Bari driving a Maserati in 1956. He finished third in the Reims 12 Hours in 1957 driving a Ferrari 250 GT single-handed and two good podiums in the Venezuelan GP at Caracas driving a Ferrari and another in the Auvergne Trophy at Clermont Ferrand with an Osca in 1959.
In 1960 Munaron drove an elderly Maserati 250F in the Argentine GP and on his return to Europe he linked up with the Scuderia Castellotti, racing their Cooper-Ferrari without much success in a handful of races. ... See More
The following year he entered a Cooper T43-Alfa for the Syracuse Grand Prix, but failed to qualify, reappearing in the Castellotti Cooper in a couple of Inter-Continental races (for 2.5-litre machines) held in Britain later that season.
Although his single-seater career petered out, Gino continued to race GT cars for a few more seasons. He drove the works Alfa Romeo Giulia TI in 1964, scoring a fifth place sharing the driving with Andrea de Adamich in the Spa 24 Hours and second in the Coppa Inter Europa 4 Hours at Monza.
