William Brickell

He is the great-great grandson of Miami pioneers Mary and William Brickell, for whom Brickell Avenue in Miami is named. A thrillseeker from a very young age, his life began on a rather ordinary path. After graduating from Ransom Everglades School, he took over the family's property management business, then opened his own shipping company.

Butch was an avid race car driver who participated in many national car races including the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 24 hour race. He broke his neck racing at the Disney Speedway in 1996 but recovered fully.

When Hollywood began shooting several films in South Florida in 1993, Brickell's movie career took off. He appeared in the Hulk Hogan film, The Nanny, then landed his first job as a stuntman in the Sylvester Stallone thriller, The Specialist.

He also served as a stunt man in 2 Fast 2 Furious, True Lies and Bad Boys. He also raced boats for a scene in the TV show, CSI Miami. A true athlete, Butch enjoyed skiing, boating, water skiing and jet skiing.

Brickell died of undisclosed causes at age 46 in Miami.
