French racing driver who won the French F3 title in 1993. A year in F3000 saw him finish 5th in the standings. He then switched to sports cars, finishing 4th at Le Mans in 1997. He is now involved in corporate event organising, specialising in a range of activities based on motor racing.
Didier Cottaz was born in Bourg-en-Bresse in France. He started competing in karts in 1980. Between then and 1989 he took 46 wins and finished 4th in the Karting World Championship.
He made the move to cars in 1990 driving in Formula Renault and finishing runner up in the Franch series.
He moved up to French Formula 3 winning the title in 1993. He joined Paul Stewart racing the following year in F3000 finishing a promising 5th in the Championship.
He then chose to move to sports cars and has participated in seven 24-hour races at Le Mans, winning 4th place in 1997 as well as racing at Daytona, which earned him the reputation as one of France's best racing drivers.
He founded his own company in 1994 called DCM (Didier Cottaz Management) to manage his career and in particular to handle his sponsorship deals and, once he had stopped racing in 2002, branched out into corporate event organising, specialising in a range of activities based on motor racing.
