Dutch driver who won the Toyota Atlantic Series in 2005 before moving to a full season in ChampCars in the USA

Charles Zwolsman was born in Lelystad, Netherlands. The son of former sports car racing driver, Charles Zwolsman Sr who competed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Zwolsman Jr started racing go karts in 1992. Between 1992-1998 he won several karting championships in Europe and competed in both European and World karting championship events.

In 1999 he competed in both the French and German Formula Ford series before moving to the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup in 2000 finishing second in the series. He also raced in French Formula Renault series, finishing fifth in overall. In 2001 he finished third in the German Formula Renault Championship and also ran in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup finishing eighth.

For 2002 he moved to Formula 3 in both the German Formula 3 and F3 Euro Series. Finishing 17th in series championship with seven top-10 results in 2003. Sticking with F3 in 2004 he finished 16th in the championship, with a best finish of third at Hockenheim in the second-to-last race of the year.

In 2005, Zwolsman made his debut in America in the Toyota Atlantic Series and quickly made an impression, qualifying fastest in his first race at Long Beach, however, his car failed the technical inspection and he was forced to start last. During the race, he moved up stedily to finish third. Zwolsman earned the ’05 Atlantic title behind eight podiums, three wins and five poles, clinching the championship over rivals Tonis Kasemets and Katherine Legge.

He made his ChampCar debut in the season finalé in Mexico City for Team Australia and is competing in a full ChampCar season with Mi-Jack Conquest Racing in 2006.
