Kyle Wankum

Born in Hamburg, Germany in 1959, Kye Wankum emmingrated to Canada in 1975 at the age of 16, taking six weeks on a 30-foot sailing boat to do so. Today, in his spare time away from racing, he pursues the development and building of sports, entertainment and leisure complexes together with his brother and business partner Andre, who continues to reside in Germany. The two have recently finished the 54,000-seat soccer stadium in Hamburg and are currently completing a multi-purpose arena for 15,000 there.

He started racing in 1990 and between then and 1992 raced in Formula Ford 1600 and 2000 as well as working as a driving instructor for the Porsche Club of America. In 1992 he moved into regional and historic saloon car racing, competing in a multitude of historic Porsche racing cars. He was the winner of the Paine-Webber Historic Endurance Championship in 1999.

In 2000 he founded Kyser Racing and competed in the American, European and Asia Pacific Le Mans Series, racing at Silverstone and Nurburgring, five North American Venues and Adelaide. Best season finish: 7th in class at Laguna Seca.

In 2001 he continued in the American and European Le Mans Series with the Kyser Racing Porsche 911 GT3R, finishing 7th in class at the 12 Hours of Sebring and 5th in class at Donington. He competed in 7 ALMS races, finishing 13th in GT championship.
