Mark Light drove Sprint Cars, Stock Cars and Midgets at tracks mostly around Pennsylvania. He took 34 career wins but failed to qualify for the Indy 50 in his one attempt in 1950

Mark Light was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He drove Sprint Cars, Stock Cars and Midgets driving at Reading, Langhorne, Nazareth, Lebanon Fair, Central, Lewistown Fair, Maple Grove, Schuylkill and Kutztown Fair.

The first AAA sanctioned Stock Car Race was held on the one-mile, clay-surfaced track at Langhorne in 1939, run over a distance of 200 miles. Only 1937, 1938 and 1939 strictly stock model cars were eligible to compete. Forty entries started and Mark won driving a Buick. Second place went to a Ford driven by Walt Keiper and a Willys-Overland, driven by Bert Ross was third.

During his career he took 34 wins. He only made one attempt to qualify for the Indy 500 and that was in 1950. He tried with a Stevens-Offy and a Meyer-Offy, but failed to make the grid with either.

After he quit racing he became a racing promoter and ran a muffler shop in Lebanon, PA.
