Philippe Favre, Swiss F3000 driver in the late 1990s. Also competed in touring cars and endurance racing.

Philippe Favre was born in Geneva, Switzerland. He started racing in Formula Ford finishing second in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in 1986 behind the late Roland Ratzenberger, driving a Van Diemen.

He graduated to F3 in 1987 competing in the Britsh Championship for Reynard Racing Cars, taking one win and finishing 7th overall.

In 1988 he stayed in F3 driving for Alan Docking Racing. He finished on the podium twice but not on the top step.

He tried F3000 in 1989 driving in 8 races for GA Motorsport. On pole for the first round at Silverstone his season was all downhill from then onwards. He collided with Irvine in round two at Vallelunga and in round three at Pau, he spun on oil laid down by Marco Apicella causing a 15 car pile up. In the restared race he was slowed by a puncture and failed to score any points. At Jerez he stopped with gearbox problems and at Brands Hatch he had handling problems.

1990 he did two races for Leyton House in F3000 and also tested their Grand Prix cars, which were raced by Ivan Capelli and Mauricio Gugelmin. He also drove three races F3000 in Japan. Favre was also a test driver for F1 Leyton-House in 1991.

He had several starts in endurance sports car classics at Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring and Spa-Francorchamps to his credit, and in 2000 he twice managed to put the works Lister Storm car on pole in the FIA GT Championship at Hungaroring and Magny Cours respectively.

In 2001 he raced in Danish touring car series driving a Renault Megane Estate and also raced for Team Larbre Competition in the French GT Championship, driving a Porsche 996 GT3-RS.

Favre was killed in a skiing accident at Val Thorens in France five days before his 52nd birthday on 6 December 2013
