Pat Cunningham campaigned big cars successfully all over the Midwest and did equally well racing midgets in California in the early to mid 1950s.

Pat Cunningham was from St. Joseph, Missouri.  He campaigned big cars successfully all over the Midwest and did equally well racing midgets in California. Pat raced at the Bo Stearns Speedway north of Wichita, Kansas from 1930 through 1935 and at Winfield, Kansas at least in 1934 and 1935.

Late in 1931 he became the driver of the Kerbs Special and with Leonard Kerbs traveled more, racing with IMCA and as far away as Phoenix, Arizona and Neal’s Speedway in San Diego, California. Cunningham continued to drive the Kerbs Special until 1934 when Kerbs sold the Riley powered car to Jack Keys of Dallas, Texas and retired as a car owner. Cunningham moved to Texas and appears to have finished out 1934 driving the Riley for Jack Keys.

He was inducted into the High Banks Hall of Fame at Belleville, Kansas in 2000.
