Charles Krebs

Charles R. "Buddy" Krebs started racing in 1948 and was one of the all-time great Modified Drivers. He won an estimated total of 200 feature races, competing in the Modified, Sportsman, and Grand National races at tracks all over the Northeast.
Charles Krebs died 15 years ago, he was 75 , He would have been 90.

Charles R. "Buddy" Krebs was born in Hartford and had lived in East Hartford for 32 years before moving to South Windsor in 1963. He started racing in 1948 and was one of the all-time great Modified Drivers, winning races at tracks all over the Northeast during his career including Westboro Speedway, Plainville Stadium, Millers Falls, Candlelight Stadium, Thompson and Stafford. He also raced on tracks up and down the East coast, including Langhorne and Daytona.He raced at many venues, but especially at Riverside Park Speedway, Agawam, MA where he won the Riverside Modified Championships three times between 1957 and 1969. He also won two Sportsman, and two Grand National championships.He won the Riverside 500 six times, the first driving with Jocko Maggiacomo, the others with Benny Germano, Gene Bergin, Ed Flemke Sr., Jerry Humiston and Ed Patnode.
He was ranked third for all time feature wins at the Riverside Park Speedway with 43 victories, between 1951 and 1972.
He won an estimated total of 200 feature races, competing in the Modified, Sportsman, and Grand National races.
He retired in 1974. He was inducted into the Riverside Park Hall of Fame in 1997 and at Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, he was acknowledged as one of the 50 greatest modified drivers of all time, inducted in 1998.
In 2000 Buddy was inducted in to the New England Auto Racers Hall of Fame (NEAR) where he served as its first president. In addition to racing, he had a band "Buddy Krebs Country Comets" for many years.

Pete Lovely 1926 - 2011
Pete Lovely started racing in a track roadster in the late 1940s. In 1955 he won the SCCA 1500cc Championship and was offered a drive by Lotus in Europe. He took a class win in the 12 hour race at Rheims with Innes Ireland, before competing in a few Grand Prix with an ex-works Lotus 49B. -

6Chuck Daigh was a racing driver from the United States. He participated in 6 Grand Prix driving a Scarab and a Cooper, debuting on May 29, 1960. -
Bob Bondurant 1933
Bob Bondurant was a Formula 1 driver who raced for the Ferrari, Lotus, BRM and Eagle teams. Now famous for his racing schools where he continues to teach, time permitting, and race in select vintage racing events. -
Bob Said 1932 - 2002
Bob Said started racing in 1952 in the USA but turned his attention to Europe where he raced with Maston Gregory. He raced in the American Grand Prix in 1959 at Sebring, driving Paul Emery's ancient Connaught. He lost everything in 1962 but rebuilt his fortune and took up winter sports, participating in the Winter Olympics in 1968 and 1972 in the bobsleigh event. He then became an Emmy award winning producer. He died of a heart attack while watching the OSCARs on TV.
