Hal Keck

Hal Keck mostly raced in club events but did share the GT class winning Cobra Daytona Coupe at the 1965 Daytona 24 Hour race with Jo Schlesser. He went on to win the A Production SCCA National Campionship that year in his Cobra.

rold M. Keck was born in Fountain Hill, Lower Saucon Township, He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was taken prisoner.

Hal raced a Corvette in the late 50s and early 60s, mainly in the northeast, Watkins Glenn, Cumberland, Marlboro, Pocono Raceway, Limerock, Thompson, and Reading. He was also built a Lister/Corvette and raced it in 1962.

He finished 8th at Sebring in 1964 driving his Cobra (CSX2127) with Robert Scott. It was also good enough for third in class and the highest finish by a private entry.

In 1965 he won his class and finished 2nd overall at the Continental 2000Km race at Daytona race driving with Jo Schlesser for Ford and Shelby American. He won the Watkins Glen 500 Mile FIA race with Oscar Koveleski in his Cobra and was the A-Production National Champion.

He drove with Oscar Koveleski again at Sebring in 1966. Also joined by Ed Lowther, they retired at just over halfway with a broken driveshaft.

In 1967 he won the Hansgen Memorial at Cumberland with his A Production 427 Cobra.

In 1968 he bought a Z28 for hillclimbing but he also used to use the Cobra, winning the Pennsylvania Hill Climb Championship on more than one occasion.
