Malcolm Thompson
Born Malcolm Thompson in North Stonington, Connecticut, he was better know as Johnny. He became a mechanic in the United States Army and served in World War II and the Korean war.

As a driver he raced Modifieds and was best known for his blue and white check painted special. Johnny drove at many racetracks but was a master at Norwood where he still holds the track record for the most number of wins.

He finished 10th in the Sportsman Division points in 1960 after running the first part of the year in Sportsman before switching to Modifieds. In the Modified Division he finished in the top 10 in points in 1960 and 1961 and won the Norwood Modified Division track championship in 1962.

He owned Thompson Refrigeration Inc in Westerly for many years. After retiring from racing, he spent his spare time snowmobiling, hunting and fishing.
