Boucly, sometimes referred to as Marcel Boucly but most likely his name was Roger, came from Nice in France. He was possibly a professional wrestler who raced from the late 1920s and the mid 1930s mostly with Salmson but later with a Miller 91 and a Bugatti T51.

Roger Boucly
Roger, as we will call him, started racing in the late 1920s, entering a Salmson in the IV Grand Prix du Comminges in 1929, posting a DNF. Over the next few years he posted a number of DNFs though he did finish 3rd in I Circuit de Esterel Plage in 1930 driving a Tony Speciale.

At the end of 1932 with the Salmson no longer competitive, he started a private team with Victor Marret and another former Salmson driver, Louis Decaroli. Roger and Victor purchased a pair of Miller 91 Monopostos, while Louis had a monoposto body on his 37A Bugatti (In later years this car was driven with the original two-seater body by Yvonne Itier).

Boucly raced the Miller in 1933 season without any great success eventually switching to a Bugatti T37A and a Bugatti T51 the following year.

In February 1935 he drove the Bugatti T51 in the III Grand Prix de Pau but during practice he braked too late for the corner at the end of the Avenue du Bois Louis and ran wide crashing into a private car that had been left there for some inexplicable reason by an official of organising French motor club. Boucly was thrown from the car and taken to the hospital by ambulance. Fortunately he was not seriously hurt and was released after a ew days.

His last appearance was in 1935 at the III Circuit de Orleans Voiturette race once again returning to racing a Salmson and scoring another DNF!
