On this day back in 1988 the Gordon Murray designed McLaren MP4/4-Honda was almost totally dominant, winning 15 of the 16 races that year with Prost and Senna behind the wheel.

The only race they failed to win was the Italian Grand Prix on this day. It was the first Italian GP without Enzo Ferrari, having passed away on August the 14th. So you can imagine the crowds’ reaction to a Ferrari 1-2 provided by Berger and Alboreto.
