Started in 1953 on oval tracks with a 1937 Ford Coupe. Multi-time Runoffs champion, 1962 E Production, 1963-64 D Production, 1975 B Production. Brought the MG and Triumph brands to America’s forefront with Group 44 team which took professionalism in amateur racing to a new level. Progressed to Jaguars first in Club Racing, then in IMSA Camel GT series. Career Highlights: 1961- 1966 Bob raced Triumphs TR3s and TR4s and won the SCCA championship 4 times 1967- Group 44 moved to a TR250 and also organized Dodge’s 1967 Trans-Am effort 1971- Raced a 1964 GTO in Trans-Am competition 1974- Raced Group 44 E-Type V12 1975- Group 44 captured championship in the E-Type V12 1976- Group 44 switched to the XJ-S and finished 3rd in first outing 1978- Team captured manufacturer’s championship and won 7 of 12 races 1979- New Triumph TR8 sat on pole and led every lap in his first race 1980- Switched to IMSA GTO 1981- Group 44 raced an XJ-S and finished 2nd in the Trans-Am series 1982- His new XJR-5 finished 3rd for the season 1983- XJR-5 finished 2nd in the standings 1984- XJR-5 raced at LeMans 1985- New XJR-7 ran 18 races as well as LeMans Following the three seasons of 1977, 78, & 79, Bob Tullius drove the Group 44 XJ-S in 29 races, won 3 outright and achieved 15 Category 1 victories. For that, Bob was the first recipient of the Sir William Lyons International Jaguar Trophy. Now restores World War II fighter planes
