Driver Juan FÃ¡bregas, who had competed in races and rallies at the wheel of Pegaso and Ferrari cars, and co-driver Francisco Arderiu were killed in an accident during a classification test - a one-kilometer long event with standing start, held under heavy fog - during the 2Âº Rallye del R.A.C.E.. The accident happened at the 2nd leg of the rally, on the outskirts of Zaragoza, where the classification test was held. The route of the second leg of the Rallye del R. A. C. E. was Zaragoza - Santander, and such classification earned points for the final classification of the competition. Quite likely the crashed occurred on 17 December 1954, and both occupants of passed away that same day. Juan FÃ¡bregas was the brother of Salvador FÃ¡bregas, a well-known amateur rally driver that later became president of the R.A.C.C..
