Started racing in 1973. Became the second woman in history to qualify for the Indy 500 in 1992. She has also raced at Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring.

Born in Willoughby, Ohio, she made her racing debut was in the 1973 Amateur Sports Car Club of America.

She was just the second woman in history to race at the Indy 500 and one of just 4 women to qualify for the race when she took the start in 1992. Some doubted that a woman could keep up with male drivers, and Lyn struggled to get the sponsorship she needed to race. She took eleventh place, and became the first woman to be selected Indy 500 Rookie of the Year.

She has or holds 31 International and National closed circuit speed records over a 20-year career. She has raced twice (1989 and 1991) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (France). At the 24 Hours of Daytona she won the GTO Team Driver Class in 1887 and 1991. She has also raced in the 12 Hours of Sebring Endurance, where she won GTO Team Driver Class in 1991.

She competed in 53 SCCA Trans-Am races with 7 Top 5 finishes and raced in 62 IMSA GT races with 6 wins and 17 Top 5 and 37 Top 10 finishes, becoming the only woman so far, to have ever won an IMSA GT race driving solo.

She made a total of 11 CART and 5 Indy Racing League starts.
