Butch Lindley was a well know American racing driver who had an accident that left him in a coma for over five years until he died in the summer of 1990.

Lindley was a well-known driver in the 1970s and early 80s who won several Busch National championships. He suffered an accident on a Saturday evening in the spring of 1985 at Desoto Speedway in Bradenton, FL, United States. A trailing arm of his Chevrolet Camaro broke, throwing the car on a spin. It hit the wall on the driver's side of the car and reportedly, Lindley hit the wall with his head. Lindley remained in a coma for over five years until he died in the summer of 1990.
