Brazilian Grand Prix, Rio de Janeiro, won by Alain Prost in a McLaren MP4/2.

Ayrton Senna started his first F1 race at the Brazilian GP at Rio de Janeiro, in a Toleman. He started 17th on the grid and only rounded the circuit for 17 laps until boost pressure failure put him out. Alain Prost set fastest lap and won the race in a McLaren MP4/2. Keke Rosberg in his Williams was second from his 9th spot on the grid and birthday boy, Elio de Angelis found his way to the podium in third. De Angelis also sat on pole for the race.
