Brazilian Grand Prix at the Jacarepagua circuit won by Carlos Reutemann ina Williams.

Carlos Reutemann won the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix at the Jacarepagua circuit, ignoring Williams team orders to let teammate Alan Jones pass for the win. With 7 laps to go in the scheduled 63 lap race, a pit board was displayed to Reutemann telling him to let Jones by. The sign was displayed 3 more laps, but Reutemann wound up taking the checkered 4 seconds ahead of defending World Champion Jones when the race reached the 2 hour time limit one lap early. Reutemann later insisted he was going to wave Jones by on lap 63, a lap which never came.
