1935 The great "romantic" age of South American road racing begins with the start of the first Gran Premio Internacional. The running of this 2733.6 mile (4409 km) event from Buenos Aires to Santiago de Chili was a rally which was won by Arturo Kruuse of Patagonia, Argentina, in a Plymouth.
1971 Peter Gethin in his Chevron-Chevrolet F5000, won in the Race of Champions event at Brands Hatch, England. This was the first, and only time, a F5000 car won over the F1 mounts in a heads-up competition.
