In the sixties South Africa enjoyed a thriving Formula One circus of it’s own. And one of it’s best remembered practitioners was Brausch Niemann. Not because he was especially talented – although he did appear to be half-sharp – but because he had a Lotus Seven. And by all accounts, a particularly tatty one.

Count Eliot Zborowski

Count Eliot Zborowski born on this day in 1856 - died in 1903, 117 years ago, he was 47.

Count William Eliott Morris Zborowski, father of Count Louis Zborowski (famous for his aero engined monster racing cars), was an allround sportsman but paticualerly loved racing Mercedes cars. He was killed  at La Turbie hill climb in France.
