One of Italy’s leading gentleman sportscar drivers in the 1930s, Marchese Giovanni "Gino" Maria Cornaggia Medici did all his racing in the seat of Alfa Romeo cars. First with a 6C-1750 model and then an 8C-2300, he concentrated mainly on hillclimbing, winning several small events. He also contested a handful of road races, without much success apart from 10th place overall in the Mille Miglia in his first year of competition, 1931.

Cornaggia also took part in several postwar Mille Miglias, always in Alfa Romeos and usually in the touring class, which he won in 1950.
