Heir to a Canadian department store fortune, Eaton raced in Formula A and Can Am. This led to a drive for BRM. After a dissapointing time when he never troubled the score sheets, he lost interest and retired.
Heir to a Canadian department store fortune, George had the budget to go racing, graduating to a McLaren M1C via an AC Cobra late in 1967, Eaton ran the car in Can-Am the following year, taking an impressive third at Laguna Seca in the wet.
In 1969 he ordered a new McLaren M12 for Can-Am and a McLaren M10 for Formula A, and became a legitimate front-runner in both series. This brought an invitation to race the works BRM P138 in two of the last Grands Prix of the year. Eaton qualified last in his two races and retired from both.
This suprisingly led to Eaton being signed to drive for BRM in F1 for a full season in 1970, as well as racing their P54 prototype in Can-Am. George never figured in the top-six, his best finish being a 10th in Canada in 1970. He even failed to qualify at Monaco and Jarama. Eaton drove one race for BRM in 1971, the Canadian GP, finishing 15th.
Eaton got invo;ved with Ferrari sports cars and raced them at Sebring, Le Mans and Watkins Glen. But with success continuing to prove elusive, Eaton lost interest, and after the 1972 Daytona 6-hour race he quite racing.
