Malcolm Wilson first came to prominence in the Wilsons of Branthwaite Escort in which the young 18 year old triumphed on a few of the local events, including this event in 1976 and 1981. During his rallying career Malcolm has successfully driven many different cars such as Ford Escort, Metro 6R4, Audi Quattro, Vauxhall Astra and the Ford Sierra Cosworth. At the same time he built his preparation business in his native Cumbria from humble beginnings. However Ford was always closest to his heart and when he announced his retirement from driving he concentrated on expanding the business and scored a major success by obtaining the Ford contract to run the World Rally Team, including developing and preparing the Ford Focus.
