Dan Daughtry

Mainly a Late Model specialist, Dan Daughtry was the 1971 Late Model Champion at Sunshine Speedway in Pinellas Park Florida. He won the 1969 Inaugural Figure Eight Winternationals which he won again in 1971 and 1972. He also raced in IMSA and NASCAR.

Born in Punta Gorda, Florida, Dan Daughtry was the 1971 Late Model Champion at the Sunshine Speedway in Pinellas Park, Florida. He won the 1969 Inaugural Figure Eight Winternationals and again in 1971 and 1972 and was the highest scoring driver for five straight years at the Sunshine Speedway.

One night at Sunshine Speedway in the Late Model feature, a tangle sent several of the  top cars to the pits for repairs. During the red flag, Daughtry stopped along  the front straightaway and got out to survey the car for damage. Not too bad,  but the front bumper was hanging loose and close to dragging on one side.  Daughtry cooly removed his belt from his pants, tied up the loose bumper,  kept his position on the restart and won the race!

Mainly a Late Model specialist he did race in IMSA and NASCAR.

In 1972 he finishing 3rd in the IMSA Inver House 'Bama 200 at the Alabama International Speedway, Talladega, driving Leldon Blackwell's Chevrolet Corvette and in 1973 he drove a Ford Mustang in the Paul Revere 250 at Daytona International Speedway, though he failed to finish.

He drove for two seasons in NASCAR, 1974 (six races with one top ten finish) and 1975 (two races including the Daytona 500).
