Interesting and notable events from the history of motor sport.

1954

Buenos Aires 1000K endurance race. The race was won by Giuseppe Farina and Umberto Maglioli in a Ferrari 375.

During the race, Dale Duncan had to put out a fire in the engine compartment of his Allard by urinating on it. His co-driver, Carroll Shelby, had left the fire extinguisher out of the car to save weight. They finished tenth.

1960

Bob Drake won the sports car race at Palm Springs, California, USA driving a Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage.

1999

Pope John Paul II performs mass at the Hermanos Rodriguez race track.
