Interesting and notable events from the history of motor sport.

1973

South African Grand Prix at Kyalami won by Jackie Stewart in a Tyrrell.

He finished 24 seconds ahead of Peter Revson in a McLaren and Emerson Fittipaldi was third in his Lotus. Emmo also set fastest lap of the race. The race also marked the F1 debut for George Follmer and Shadow. He would bring his Shadow home in sixth place in the race.

1979

South African Grand Prix at Kyalami won by Gilles Villeneuve in a Ferrari 312T4.

He also set fastest lap of the race. His teammate, Jody Schecter was second, 3.4 seconds back with Jean-Pierre Jarier coming in third in his Tyrrell, 22 seconds later.

1980

South African Grand Prix at Kyalami won by Rene Arnoux in a Renault

From 2nd on the grid, he won in a time of 1:36.52 in his Renault. He also set the fastest lap of the race. Ligier drivers, Jacques Laffite and Didier Pironi were 2nd and third.

1992

South African Grand Prix at Kyalami won by Nigel Mansell in a Williams.

He also took pole for the race and set the fastest lap. Riccardo Patrese was second in the other Williams and Ayrton Senna finished third in his McLaren.

2000

Australian Grand Prix won by Michael Schumacher.

JPM finished second and Kimi Raikkonen finished third. Raikkonen also set the fastest lap of the race.
