Chuck Arnold

Primarily a midget racer, Arnold drove in the Indy 500 on May 30, 1959, his 33rd birthday, finishing 15th.

A popular figure on the circuit, Chuck Arnold was born in Stamford, Connecticut. Of diminutive stature, Arnold stood just 5ft 4 inches tall, he started racing in 1948 primarily in midgets. In 1954 he won the 1954 NASCAR Midget championship and won 14 feature races in USAC Midgets between 1965 and 1971. He finished 11th In the USAC Midget championships in 1966, moved up to 7th in 1967 and came 4th in 1968.

Arnold drove sporadically in USAC Sprint Cars and the Championship Car series. In Champ cars he made 10 starts between 1959 and 1968, including the 1959 Indianapolis 500 finishing in 15th place on his 33rd birthday. Overall he had 3 top ten finishes, with a best finish of 5th at Trenton in 1959.
