Jacques Ledure raced between the World Wars winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1924. He died in a crash at the Grand Prix des Frontières at Chimay while serving as Clerk of the Course.
Jacques Ledure was born in Saint-Gilles-lez-Bruxelles, Belgium. He was a pilot in the Belgian Air Force in WWI and carried on flying after the war.
He also raced and in 1924, driving solo he won the Monte Carlo Rally driving a Bignan. He raced the Bignan at Spa in the 24 Hour race that year driving with Boris Ivanowski but they failed to finish.
The following year he drove a Chenard & Walcker at Le Mans with André Pisart, going out after just 6 laps, but had better luck at Spa, finishing 16th overall and 5th in class.
He was back at Spa again in 1926 driving a with Lionel de Marmier, once again failing to finish.
He seems to have stopped racing at the end of the year though a Jerome Ledure appears at Spa in 1927. For the next five years Jerome posted some very good results at Spa including second in 1927, third (2nd in class) in 1928, 4th in class in 1930 and a class 3rd in 1931.
Jacques died in a crash while serving as a Clerk of the Course at Chimay for the Grand Prix des Frontières, a non-championship sportscar race in 1948.
