Eugen Ionescu-Cristea was one of the top Romanian drivers.

Eugen Ionescu-Cristea was one of the top Romanian drivers. He was born in Bucharest and won all types of championships: rallyes, hillclimbs and circuit races. He started racing a Fiat 850 followed by Renault 8 Gordini, Renault 12 Gordini, BMW 2002 TI, Lancia Fulvia HF and Dacia. He twice won the Balcan Rally (1968 and 1972) and he came second in Gunaydin Rally (1978).
